Meet Meghan: Meghan & Roland Mouret!

When we think of many famous stars and royals who have become known as style icons they are often indelibly associated with one particular designer or fashion house who essentially helped to hone their signature image. Who could forget the style marriage of Audrey Hepburn and Givenchy, Jackie Kennedy and Oleg Cassini, and the recently famous partnership between the Duchess of Cambridge and Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. Meghan has quite eclectic taste, wearing myriad brands since she found fame as Rahcel Zane on Suits. Looking at her style it's interesting to note the fashion relationships she has already forged and to observe how said partnerships could serve her in good stead should she make the transition from Hollywood startlet to duchess. One designer she loves and counts as a friend is a man who is no stranger to working with royalty - the one and only Roland Mouret.

In April 2016, Meghan attended the Roland Mouret private dinner at Corkin Gallery in Toronto. From the photos it was clear the two got along famously and thoroughly enjoyed each other's company. Mouret's sophisticated, chic, sexy aesthetic works very well with Meghan's signature style.

How did the two become friends? Well, let's hear the story from Meghan who shared it with Fashion Magazine:

"Still, he gets a kick out of his anonymity, often using it to surprise customers such as Suits actress Meghan Markle. “I was in an hotel elevator in Istanbul, and this man in a bathrobe said, ‘I love to dress you,’ ” Markle said at an after-party dinner at the Jane Corkin Gallery. “I thought, ‘Whaaat?’ Then he told me who he was and we’ve been friends ever since."

Meghan embraced off-the-shoulder in the designer's sleek Barnabas Dress. The piece remains available at Matches where it is described: "A Roland Mouret dress is always cut to flatter. Made in the UK from smooth double-faced stretch-crepe, this dark-red and black Barnabas style is designed for an of-the-moment shoulder-baring silhouette, and finished with artful ruching to emphasise a slender waist."

Looking back - a memorable occasion when Meghan selected a Roland Mouret gown was the Elton John AIDS Foundation's 13th Annual An Enduring Vision Benefit at Cipriani Wall Street in New York in 2014.

The petrol blue gown was an excellent choice; Meghan's updo and minimal accessories allowed the folded neckline to be showcased to perfection. The hourglass design featured a fishtail hem to accentuate the waistline. The fishtail-style gown continues to feature in Mouret's collections today.

Rachel Zane is a big fan of Mr Mouret too opting for a selection of figure hugging pencil skirts by the designer for the show. Speaking about Rachel's style, Meghan said: "Rachel's clothes reflect how she's feeling, because that's what happens in real life, right? When she and Michael were falling in love, everything was a blush tone and it was creams and layers and she was happier, and when she was really stressed everything was darker and there were slate and black tones. And at the very beginning, she wore a lot of black, because I think that's what happens when you're younger and you want to be taken seriously - and then you lighten up, and your clothes reflect that."

Meghan shared this snap on Instagram of she and Roland Mouret enjoying lunch last October with the caption: "Because lunch with Roland Mouret is the very best kind of lunch."

In many ways a designer like Mouret would be an ideal choice for a more permanent fashion relationship in the future. He's worked with everyone from the Duchess of Cambridge to Princess Charlene and Princess Sofia. Meghan clearly adores his designs and he has a strong sense of her stylistic preferences already.

A glance over the Pre-Fall 2017 Collection offers a host of possibilities for Meghan.

I don't know about you, but I think these two could work together on some showstopping looks (and have quite a lot of fun along the way :)).

Don't forget, we'll see Meghan tomorrow when she joins the Suits cast at the Austin Television Festival for a reading of the pilot episode!
