The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the christening of Prince Louis at the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace, this afternoon.
The couple joined guests at the private christening including Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, the Middleton family and godparents and their spouses. William and Kate chose six godparents for their eleven-week-old son. In March, months before the Royal wedding, Meghan was also baptised at the Chapel Royal. Harry and Meghan were joined by Charles and Camilla for the 45 minute service. Her baptism was followed immediately by her confirmation, meaning she would be able to join Harry at Holy Communion. The Mail on Sunday reported "The Chapel Royal choir of six Gentlemen-in-Ordinary and ten Children of the Chapel – the oldest continuous musical organisation in the world – performed throughout the service." The chapel also hosted Prince George's christening in 2013.
Prince Louis wore the Royal Christening Robe. The robe, of fine Honiton lace lined with white satin, was made in 1841 for the christening of Queen Victoria's eldest daughter, Victoria, Princess Royal. The original gown was subsequently worn for all Royal christenings, including The Queen, her children and her grandchildren, until the youngest of The Queen's eight grandchildren, James, Viscount Severn. The Queen commissioned Angela Kelly to make a hand-made replica of the Royal Christening Robe in order to preserve the original. James, Viscount Severn, was the first member of the Royal Family to wear this replica gown at his christening at the private chapel at Windsor Castle on 19th April 2008. Harry and Meghan's children will wear the robe for their christenings.
The service was conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. The Lily Font and water from the River Jordan were used during the baptism. Following the service, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge hosted a private tea at Clarence House. Guests enjoyed slices of christening cake, which is a tier taken from The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding cake. The official christening portraits were taken by Matt Holyoak, we can expect to see them released later this week.

In other news, contrary to reports in reputable media outlets, Harry and Meghan are not undertaking a joint visit to the Netherlands later this month. Harry will pay a two-day solo visit primarily to attend the 2018 International AIDS Conference. Meanwhile, we have an incredibly busy couple of days coming up on the blog. Tomorrow morning, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will join The Queen and members of the royal family for a service at Westminster Abbey to mark the centenary of the Royal Air Force. The royals will gather on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to view a special flypast. Afterwards, Harry and Meghan will attend a reception where they will meet meet RAF servicemen and women. The service begins at 10.30 am.
In the afternoon, the couple will travel to Dublin for a number of engagements. The Irish Mirror reports the following on the couple's itinerary:
