waiting for a train
i met a old man
i asked how are things 
and he said fine 

just to kill some time 
i asked him a question 
how was the world 
when you were young 

and the train was late 
and he spoke for hours 
he told me of things 
i could hardly believe 

the day turned to night 
and we went to have a bite
and he kept on talking 
of places he had been to 

he had been to Africa 
thrice around the world 
he used to have a fortune 
but he lost it all 

he used to race boats 
with kings in Monaco 
but then suddenly he stopped 
and said no no more

CAUSE YESTERDAY'S GONE
KEEP YOUR EYES ON TODAY
IF YOU WANT TO STICK AROUND

AND DO NOT YOU LOOK BACK

so today in the magazine
i saw his picture  
they said he had died 
with no one by his side

it had black and white pictures
of him in Monaco it said
he used to famous 
long time ago 

and i found myself 
wiping my tears 
but his words came to me 
and i snapped out of it 

i told myself

CAUSE YESTERDAY'S GONE
KEEP YOUR EYES ON TODAY
IF YOU WANT TO STICK AROUND

AND DO NOT YOU LOOK BACK
